"For we are Godâs workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.", Ephesians 2:10. This is what happened once again on February1st -8th, 2003, when the sovereign God brought 28 North Americans and 42 Central Americans together. For after this week, lives were changed, hearts were touched, priorities were modified, and the kingdom was advanced for His glory. The surgical mix of this trip included 26 gynecological procedures and 16 plastic surgery cases. Of special note were the wonderful transformations of those patients with facial deformities like cleft lip and palate. Babies with un-repaired facial defects not only suffer from malnutrition due to the inability to nurse but later experience other profound social insults including speech deficits and isolation. The team was especially touched by the joy and fresh hope demonstrated by the families witnessing this rebirth of sorts of their children. Little Hiberto although one year old, weighed only 10 pounds and so his family and our family now have a new testimony about Godâs goodness. Clinica Ezell, now a year old, ran efficiently and beautifully provided for our physical needs of the medical team and the spiritual nourishment was complemented by the leadership of Jeff Walling. His reminder of Godâs love for each and every one of us is what prompts us to serve lovingly. Thank you to all who made this trip eternally special.
