During the week of March 11-18, a team from David Lipscomb University, which included nineteen students, a dentist and two nurses, traveled to the small village of Pacayalito, Guatemala. Two Guatemalan Health Talents evangelists (Marco Diaz and Roberto Alvarez) and a HealthTalents doctor (Dr. Walter Sierra) accompanied us.

Just getting to Pacayalito was a challenge! It took 5 hours on a bus along some really rough roads. And when you get there, hard as one might look, you won't find any of the comforts of home. No electricity. No Water. And no hotels. We slept on the floor in a schoolhouse and bathed in a pila. Village women cooked for us.

While we were there, we ran a medical and dental clinic. Our medical team treated 380 patients while the dental clinic saw about 70.

There is a small but growing church in Pacayalito, so the students who were not busy in the clinic worked to lay the foundation for a new church building. The evangelists held Gospel Meetings each night and during the day witnessed to patients while they waited
to see the doctor. The evangelists saw visible results from their efforts as two people requested to be baptized in the river.

Places like Pacayalito have tremendous needs. When you try to compare the needs
to what we can do to help, our help does not even seem to make a drop in the bucket. However, to touch just one life for God makes all the difference in the world. The greatest result from our efforts would be that people could see the love of Christ in
our work.
